Lagos, Nigeria – February 5, 2025 – The Boys Mentoring Advocacy Network (BMAN) has received provisional approval from the Lagos State Government to operate as a registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), marking a significant milestone in its mission to empower young boys and foster youth development across the state.
The provisional approval was formally issued by Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, following a rigorous evaluation process. This recognition confirms BMAN’s compliance with the statutory requirements and standards set by the state for NGOs, enabling the organization to expand its community-focused initiatives.
BMAN’s Founder, Mr. Ola Akinwe, expressed profound gratitude and excitement about the recognition: “This provisional approval is a testament to the dedication of our team and the urgency of our mission. For years, we have worked tirelessly to create safe spaces for boys to grow into responsible, confident, and socially conscious leaders. Boys Mentoring Advocacy Network (BMAN) is an international Non-Governmental Organization incorporated in Nigeria and the USA. BMAN was established to cultivate boys and young adult males with the tools to help them navigate the process of becoming positive and empowered adult males who will Love, Inspire, Value and Educate others in their society.
The mission of BMAN is to nurture boys to stand out by standing up, empower them to become excellent and nonviolent communicators, instill ethical literacy, and guide them to understand and appreciate their own self-worth as well as that of the opposite sex, all on their journey to healthy, caring, respectful, and responsible manhood.
With provisional approval secured, BMAN plans to intensify outreach efforts in underserved communities, launch new initiatives in partnership with local schools, and advocate for policies that prioritize youth welfare.
