Boys Mentoring Advocacy Network (BMAN) offers a variety of projects and programs tailored to address the diverse needs of boys. Here are our current initiatives:
There are an estimated 1.4 million blind children worldwide. Approximately three quarters of these live in the poorest regions of Africa and Asia. The burden of disability in terms of blind years in these children represents a major social, emotional, and economic burden for the children, their families, the communities, and the nation. This is an initiative taken to accelerate the efforts to elevate, integrate and activate child eye health to meet the growing eye care needs among our children.
More infoThe “Roar of Resilience” program is an ongoing 8-week mentoring initiative designed to empower boys aged 10 and above through thematic exploration and real-life application inspired by the “Lion Trapped by Clan of Hyenas.”This program aims to foster essential life skills such as resilience, self-reliance, strategic thinking, and community engagement, contributing to the personal growth and holistic development of young boys.
More infoDescription: Our weekly mentoring sessions provide valuable guidance on the transition from boyhood to manhood. Experienced mentors help boys understand the expectations and challenges of growing up, building strength and character.
– Goals: Equip boys with essential life skills, emotional intelligence, and resilience
Boys are like mirrors, and their lives reflect the world which we adults have created for them. There is the need to view boys as assets and resources, not as problems or liabilities. Our collective support is needed to cultivate them into becoming valuable, healthy, and thriving members of society. For us to promote and achieve gender equality, ensure the protection of women and girls and end gender-based violence and harmful practices, rigorous training and mentorship of boys and men is vital.
More infoLiteracy is the fundamental driver of all the changes education brings to mankind. Studies show that just learning to read and write (LITERACY) could lift 171 million people out of poverty. BMAN is expanding this Literacy Project to urban and rural communities to equip at-risk children to be proficient in literacy skills.
More infoUnderwear is the most needed items of all clothing. Many boys especially those from low income parents are deprived of underwear and lots of them wear worn and torn undies. Hardly would you find children from needy homes in Africa having more than one or two underwear and had to wear for two or three days and wash overnight to wear again the following day. We’re fundraising to buy new boxers at wholesale and distribute to needy boys to boost their self-esteem and promote good underwear hygiene.
More infoLow Income Families Education (L.I.FE) Support Fund. It is an annual education endowment fund for children who are forced out of school due to financial constraints beyond their control. L.I.F.E Support Fund will serve as an emergency support fund to students from single parent homes who are challenged with funding while schooling at all educational levels due to unavoidable circumstances. Imagine the number of individuals who were robed of their full potentials due to lack of school fees!
More infoMentoring young boys and imparting important life lessons is a crucial aspect of their development. One innovative and effective approach is to utilize the universal language of soccer, a sport revered and admired by boys worldwide. This Project explores the significance of mentoring boys through soccer and highlights how soccer players can serve as role models and catalysts for positive change.
